Moulvibazar Correspondent: The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has found evidence of extortion and intimidation in a farm owned by French expatriate Md. Hafizur Rahman in Majergaon village, Sindurkhan UP, No. 4, Srimangal Upazila. Recently, the investigating officer of the case, Moulvibazar Shah Mokaddir Hussain, after a long investigation, found the truth of the allegations and submitted an investigation report to the learned Senior Judicial Magistrate, No. 2, Moulvibazar, who took office. In the investigation report, PBI says that – French expatriate Md. Hafizur Rahman started working on the farm by building a boundary wall in Sharergaj Mouza. The responsibility of the farm was given to his brother Mohibur Rahman and cousin Zafar Ali. When the workers went to work at the farm, Sheikh Jasim Uddin (35), son of Jitu Mia of Chirigaon area, created a barrier. And demanded a ransom of 2 lakh taka. He threatened to demolish the farm if the demanded money was not paid. After receiving the news, Md. Hafizur Rahman, a French expatriate, came to Bangladesh on 06/08/2024. On the afternoon of 24/08/2024, when he came to bring bricks by truck for the farm’s work, Sheikh Jasim Uddin created a barrier and abused the French expatriate in obscene language and said – if you want to work in this area, you have to pay 2 lakh taka or you will not be able to do any work. Although the matter was informed to local dignitaries, since it could not be resolved, Md. Hafizur Rahman, a resident of France, filed a case in the learned Senior Judicial Magistrate Court, Moulvibazar (CR- Case No. 373/2024 (Sri.)) against Sheikh Jasim Uddin (35), Sheikh Wasim Uddin (30), Sheikh Kabir Uddin (40) and 4/5 unidentified persons as accused. The learned court directed the PBI, Moulvibazar to investigate the case. A hearing date has been set for receiving the report of this case. The investigation report further revealed that several cases against Sheikh Jasim Uddin, including CR Case No. 369/24 (Sri.), Executive Magistrate Court Case No. 320/24 (Sri.), Cyber ​​Case No. 242/24, are pending and under investigation in the learned court. When asked about this, Sheikh Jasim Uddin said, “I am involved in politics. Many leaders of the district have informed me about me.” I am aware. My house is next to the farm. I have been charged with extortion because I protested against something illegal. In response to the question that the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has submitted a report after a long investigation, he said – If there is extortion, then provide evidence. The investigating officer of the case, Moulvibazar Shah Mokaddir Hussain, said – After taking charge of the investigation of the case, an investigation report has been submitted to the learned court against Sheikh Jasim Uddin in the light of the information received publicly and secretly. The fact that the truck was stopped at the farm of the French expatriate, demanding money, threats and other things have been proven to be true.
