Lalmonirhat 22 women arrested on charges of theft at Mizanur Rahman Azhari’s mahfil

A theft and robbery incident occurred at Mizanur Rahman Azhari’s Tafsir mahfil in Lalmonirhat. The victims are filing a general diary (GD) with the police station. Most of the complaints are about theft of mobile phones, money and gold ornaments.
On Saturday, January 18, a gathering of several lakhs of people gathered at the mahfil at Suhrawardy Ground in Lalmonirhat. It has been alleged that a few gangs of thieves committed thefts at that time.
In the case of theft, law enforcement agencies have arrested a total of 23 people, including 22 women suspected of being part of a gang of female thieves. Most of the detained women are said to be from Sylhet, Habiganj and Brahmanbaria regions. Their interrogation is underway.
District Police ASP (A-Circle) AKM Fazlul Haque confirmed the truth of the incident.  He said that the names and addresses of those who were arrested have been verified. They used to do these activities by targeting different areas and programs. Preparations have been made to file cases against them.
Sadar Police Station Duty Officer ASI Shahidul Islam said, “Since the end of the mahfil, eight GDs have been filed so far regarding mobile theft, and I believe there may be more.” The case against the 22 detained women and one man will include the theft of gold ornaments.
