Advisor on Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ambassador (Retd.) Supadrip Chakma said, the Chittagong Hill Tracts will be developed without any change in nature and environment. We want to increase the production and use of bamboo to reduce water scarcity in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and build the economic foundation of this region. Bamboo is very effective and important in protecting the environment. We are no longer encouraging the planting of teak, mahogany and akashi trees in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Bamboo will be the most important element in reducing water scarcity in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and achieving economic prosperity.
