The joint forces have arrested Shahrizar Sultan Babu (43) and his associate Saleh Bayezid (26) in Chapainawabganj, who were posing as fake group captains of the Bangladesh Air Force.
A joint operation team of the army made the arrests from the Peyara Bagan area of ​​Sadar Upazila on Wednesday evening.
The arrested accused are Shahrizar Sultan Babu (41) of Peyara Bagan Shmashanghat village in Sadar Upazila, and Abu Saleh Bayezid (26) of Tarunbari village.
A press release sent on Thursday morning said that the accused Shahrizar Sultan Babu had been trying to contact the Chapainawabganj army camp by phone for the past few days. During the phone conversation, the person introduced himself as a retired Group Captain of the Bangladesh Air Force and sought the help of the army to solve a family problem of him and his colleague. Later, on January 8, he came to the camp to talk about his family problem. While talking to the army members, there was considerable doubt about the information and identity he gave. After that, during the initial interrogation, it was revealed that the person’s father was a retired Master Warrant Officer of the Air Force and his elder brother was a dismissed sergeant of the Air Force.
When the army and RAB went to his home area for a detailed investigation, the identity and all the information he gave were proven to be false, and the detained person was handed over to Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station for further legal proceedings.
