The mobile court of the upazila administration conducted a drive while illegally selling TCB products in the open market in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar and seized a large amount of products and fined 3 traders.

On Saturday (December 21), Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kamrul Hossain Chowdhury conducted the drive at the hat and bazaar adjacent to the Kot Bazar station of the upazila. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zareen Tasneem Tasin was with him at the time.

The Upazila Nirbahi Officer said that TCB (Trading Corporation of Bangladesh) products cannot be marketed and sold in the open market without a government dealer. Action has been taken as per the rules after finding evidence on the spot. Three traders including local traders Abu Bakar and Kamal Uddin were fined Tk 10,000 in the drive and were warned that strict legal action will be taken if they carry out such activities in the future.

Locals said that TCB products have not been available for a long time, but some unscrupulous traders are collecting TCB products, including edible oil, at low prices and supplying them to consumers at high profits. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zareen Tasnim Tasin said that such campaigns will continue to keep the market situation normal.
