A youth workshop on Village Court Gender Champions was held in Comilla. The workshop was held at the Comilla Deputy Commissioner’s office on December 18 with the participation of youth organizations, youth activists, women entrepreneurs and young women from 17 upazilas including Barura, Chandina, Muradnagar, Titas, Langalkot, Adarsh ​​Sadar, and Homna. 31 youth representatives from different parts of Comilla district participated in this workshop organized by the “Activation of Village Courts in Bangladesh (Phase 3) Project” jointly funded by the Local Government Department under the Ministry of Rural Development and Cooperatives, UNDP and the European Union. The main objective of the youth workshop on ‘Village Court Gender Champion’ is to provide various local youth groups who are associated with the Department of Youth Development, Department of Women Affairs and various project implementing organizations with an idea about the village court and its various activities under its jurisdiction, as well as to raise awareness. So that they can promote the village court in their own families, areas and educational centers. Youth will play an important role in women’s access to justice in village courts ‘Youth plays an important role in raising awareness about the village court and its various benefits among the local people, especially women and marginalized communities (ethnic groups, disabled people and other backward communities). It is possible to keep the village court activities of the Union Parishad active through the active participation and activities of local youth. This will allow the villagers to easily resolve various disputes and conflicts at the union level, said the speakers participating in the workshop.
