The International Migration and National Expatriates Day was celebrated in Chapainawabganj with the theme “Expatriates’ rights, our commitment, a Bangladesh without discrimination, for all of us”.
On Wednesday (December 18) morning, at a discussion meeting organized by the Chapainawabganj District Administration and the District Work Organization and Manpower Office, Deputy Commissioner Abdus Samad, speaking as the chief guest, said that for safe migration, one should go abroad with skills and training. One should also know about all the facilities and benefits abroad. Only then will the expatriates get the right evaluation abroad.
At the event, a check of about 2 lakh 52 thousand taka was handed over to a migrant who had returned from abroad for reunification.
In the meeting, Ashiquzzaman, Coordinator of the Migration and Reintegration Support Center (MRSC) of the Improved Sustainable Reintegration of Bangladeshi Returnee Migrants (Pratyasha-2) project, jointly funded by the European Union and BRAC, said that International Migrants Day is a special day, which is a valuable opportunity to pay tribute to the rights of migrants, their role in social, cultural and economic fields, and their contributions.
The meeting was presided over by Debendranath Urao, Deputy Director of Chapainawabganj Local Government. Moin Uddin, Principal of District Technical Training Center (TTC), Kartik Kumar Prang, Representative of District Probasi Kalyan Bank, and Naqib Hasan Tarafdar, Additional District Deputy Commissioner (General). Akhlaq-uz-Zaman, Assistant Director of District Organization and Manpower Office, delivered the welcome speech.
Representatives from various government and non-government organizations, immigrants and their family members also participated.
