During the concert organized by BNP on the occasion of Great Victory Day, a stage built for journalists collapsed. Several journalists were injured. This incident happened on Monday (December 16) around 4:15 in the afternoon at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital. Journalists from various TV channels and online media, including News-24, Machranga, ATN News, were injured on the collapsed stage. Among the injured are Independent Television’s special correspondent Jahanara Parveen and Yamuna Television’s senior correspondent Arefin Shakeel. Independent Television’s Jahanara Parveen said, “My hand has been cut. Our cameraperson Tapan is seriously injured and is currently admitted to Ayesha Memorial Hospital.” Yamuna Television’s Arefin Shakeel said, “My waist and my cameraperson’s legs were injured when the stage collapsed during the concert. Our camera was also damaged. We have taken first aid. Please pray.” The media workers reacted angrily to the safety of journalists in this incident. People from different classes and professions attended the concert with the national flag in their hands and Alpana painted on their faces. The concert will continue till 11 pm, organizers said.
