The much awaited Rajshahi Medical University (RAMEB) construction project has been inaugurated to ensure world and international quality medical services.
On Sunday (December 1) at 12 o’clock, Ramebi’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Moha Jawadul Haque inaugurated the construction work of this establishment project by unveiling the plaque, flying balloons-festoons and pigeons with the guests.

Md Jawadul Haque said that 4 medical universities were established in the country in 2016 for the purpose of expansion and development of higher education, research and service standards and facilities in the medical field of the country. Academic activities of Ramebi started from 2017. As such, Ramebi’s age is about 8 years. During this period, many related works including project formulation, project design formulation and approval, land acquisition have been completed. Ministry of Health, Planning Commission, District Administration, Public Works Department and related departments including Health Engineering have provided full cooperation in this work. With the inauguration, the journey of Ramebi’s infrastructure construction at its own place began. Rambi will be visible soon.
The Vice-Chancellor also said that the project will be implemented on a total of 67.6792 acres of land with parts of Bara Bangram Mauza, Bade Silinda and Baripara Mauza under Rajpara Police Station of Rajshahi metropolis.
He said Ramebi will be a full-fledged medical university with environment friendly and state-of-the-art facilities. The overall project is divided into two phases. The first phase of construction includes a state-of-the-art hospital building with 120 beds, 12 storeys with basement. The total area of ​​this hospital building will be around 12 lakh square feet. All world class facilities will be present here. There will be adequate number of ICU, state-of-the-art OT rooms and post-operative rooms. Adequate wards and cabins will be provided with air conditioning. Cabins and ward beds will have medical gas connections. After collection of samples from the patients, the circulation will be done through pneumatic pressure through the pipe line without human transport. The hospital will have 4 escalators along with 22 massive lifts. There will be a three-level power connection system to keep the power supply uninterrupted in the hospital. To ensure this, there will be provision of two separate large power generation units of high quality for the hospital building. In addition to the internal fire fighting system of the building, a satellite fire station will be constructed as an additional precaution to avoid fire accidents. There will also be adequate number of CCTV cameras for overall security and modern nurse calling system. A modern academic building with 10 floors with basement will be near the hospital.
The Vice-Chancellor said that at the end of the first phase of construction, the university administration building, Vice-Chancellor’s residence, three dormitories for students, a mortuary, a school, a mosque, three electricity sub-stations will be completed from this campus. , a satellite fire station, boundary wall, three similar gates, 20 security checkpoints, access roads, drainage system, Own waste management, clean water supply system etc. will be constructed. Above all, the most important aspect of this hospital is its environment. With utmost emphasis on the environment, there will be a reservoir of about 9 acres. This will help maintain the required humidity of the entire campus and its surrounding areas. On the other hand, it will be used as a reservoir for rainwater and campus water. Note that after proper treatment the used water will be stored in the reservoir. This green will be kept as close as possible to the green of the campus. For that purpose several trees will be moved without cutting. There are also plans to plant adequate number of new trees of suitable category. As a result, a world-class medical university will be built here with the touch of modernity in the lap of nature for the next generation.
He also said that besides infrastructure construction work, there is a plan to start post-graduate courses in various disciplines of medical science and nursing very soon to improve the quality of medical education. As a result, health workers including world-class skilled and knowledgeable doctors will be created. He said that the total cost of the first phase of the project is Tk 2,257 crore, out of which the cost of land acquisition is Tk 776 crore. Also Rs 1003 crore has been estimated for construction work and Rs 478 crore for machinery and furniture. The project is initially planned to be completed by June 30, 2027. The second phase will be initiated while the first phase is in progress. The second phase will have 4 more academic buildings, 3 hall buildings, 40 residences for officers and employees, 1 library building, 1 TSC building, 1 gymnasium, 1 auditorium, 1 Shaheed Minar, 1 temple, 1 international standard guest house and hotel and 1 Commercial building.
