A week-long distribution of 10,000 fruit tree saplings was held among students of various educational institutions in Barura, Comilla.
From Monday, November 25 to Thursday, November 28, under the initiative of the Amratoli Late Abu Taher Smriti Foundation of Barura Upazila, 10,000 fruit tree saplings were distributed among students of Amratoli High School, Shaherbanu Ideal School and College, Amratoli Government Primary School, Purba Nalua Government Primary School, Joykamta Government Primary School, Digalgaon Government Primary School, Shilmuri Government Primary School, Monohara Government Primary School and Shilmuri North and South Union educational institutions.
Barura Upazila Executive Officer Nu-Mong Marma Mong was present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. Under the direction of the founding director of the late Abu Taher Foundation, Abu Sayem, the manager of Barura National Bank, Mazharul Islam Liton, former president of the Amratoli C. Ali High School Management Committee, Md. Shah Alam Babul, principal of Shaherbanu Ideal School and College, Md. Rezaul Karim Majumder, headmaster of Amratoli High School, Dilip Chandra Ghosh, headmaster of Amratoli Government Primary School, Md. Soleman Mia, teachers of other schools and other individuals were present.
During the distribution of saplings, the founding director of the late Abu Taher Memorial Foundation, Md. Abu Sayem, said, “In the name of my father, I had promised that this foundation would distribute 10,000 fruit tree saplings to the students of various educational institutions this year, in continuation of which, these 10,000 fruit tree saplings were distributed to the students of a total of 20 educational institutions.” In addition, the late Abu Taher Foundation said that social and service-based activities including providing scholarships to students of various educational institutions, distributing educational materials, distributing various materials to mosques and madrasas, distributing clothes to students, and providing food and financial assistance to helpless people will continue every year.
