Friday, 22/11/2024, at 10 am, the local people welcomed the UP chairman.
On the occasion of welcoming the new chairman, the entire Parishad square located in Khasherhat Bazar of Moricbunia Union of Patuakhali Sadar Upazila turned into a gathering. From local grocery stores to restaurants and hotels, there was a greater than usual flow of people, and the presence of a comparatively large number of people was notable as it was a holy Friday. With the overall support of UP Secretary Sohag Khan, a prayer and milad ceremony was organized in coordination with all UP members and chakidars at the Parishad ground, the ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. At this time, the Doa Milad program was conducted under the chairmanship of Ward No. 9 UP member Sirajul Islam Siraj and conducted by former Upazila Jamaat Islam General Secretary Alamgir Hossain.
In the presence of more than a hundred people from different wards to see and welcome the new chairman, the common people, the senior officers and employees of Moricbunia Union, welcomed their new chairman with flowers. Later, the common people met and exchanged views with Chairman Moniruzzaman Titu one by one. After the UP members first welcomed the new chairman with flowers at the program, various political leaders, Yubadal, Chhatra Dal, Jamaat Islam, Ulama Dal and common people who came gave the right direction on how to reorganize their future union and requested the new chairman to be strict in preventing drugs, theft, and eve-teasing from this union.
While welcoming the new chairman, Union Jubo Dal convener Mithu Mridha, Bazargona Senior Fazil Madrasa principal Md. Halim Maulana, former general secretary of Upazila Ulama Dal, Alamgir Hossain, former upazila general secretary of Jamaat Islam, spoke on various issues.
Chairman Moniruzzaman’s father Abdul Haque Mridha and younger brother Md. Alamin Mridha were with him at the Doa Milad program. After a long legal battle, Moniruzzaman Titu Mridha took oath as UP chairman and took part in the Parishad today through Doa Milad at his own office.
It is worth noting that the UP elections in Patuakhali district were held on November 11, 2021. After the voting that day, the returning officer declared Md. Masum Mridha as the winner of the vote for the post of chairman. The defeated chairman candidate Md. Moniruzzaman Titu Mridha could not accept this result. At that time, he filed a case in court against the selected result. Finally, three years after the election, the Patuakhali Senior Assistant Judge Court has declared Anarosa Marker candidate Moniruzzaman Titu Mridha the winner of the chairmanship election. As a result, today, Thursday, November 21 at 9.30 am, the newly elected Moricbunia UP Chairman, Anarosa Marker Md. Moniruzzaman Titu Mridha, was administered the oath by Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Mr. Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin at the Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner’s Court Hall Room.
