Moniruzzaman Titu sworn in as chairman

Moniruzzaman Titu Mridha has taken oath as UP Chairman after a long legal battle. He took oath on Thursday, three years after the election. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin administered the oath as Morichbunia UP Chairman.

Patuakhali district UP election was held on 11th November 2021. At the end of the polling on that day, the returning officer declared Mohammad Mridha as the winner of the chairman post. The defeated chairman candidate Md. Moniruzzaman Titu Mridha could not accept this result. At that time he filed a case in court against the selected results.

Finally, three years after the election, the Patuakhali Senior Assistant Judge Court declared Pineapple Marker candidate Moniruzzaman Titu Mridha as the winner of the chairman post. As a result, today Thursday, November 21 at 9.30 am, Patuakhali District Commissioner’s court was held in the room as the newly elected Morichbunia UP Chairman, Anaras Pratiker Md. Moniruzzaman Titu Mridha, Deputy Commissioner of Patuakhali and The learned District Magistrate Mr. Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin administered the oath.

Upazila Executive Officer Iffat Ara Zaman Urmi, Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP Patuakhali District Branch Member Secretary Snehanshu Sarkar Kutti, and various members of Morichbunia UP were also present at the oath taking ceremony. The local electorate of the said UP including the UP member of the ward. At the same time, the Deputy Commissioner announced the cancellation of the final result declared in the Morichbunia UP election on November 11, 2021.

After taking the oath, Chairman Moniruzzaman Titu Mridha said, ‘Truth has won, pineapple marker has won. In the last election I was declared defeated by systematic rigging.
