Almost everyone in Sylhet is reluctant to say goodbye to him in a short time. Rafiqul Islam Shamim, Deputy Director of Sylhet Youth Development Department, has won the hearts of subordinate officers and employees and entrepreneurs of youth organizations at work with his work, skills and acceptance.
One after another, reception programs are being held for this officer of the Youth Development Department in Sylhet.
Many people are doing these programs on their own initiative. In the past, Sylhet District Entrepreneur Youth Organization,
Sylhet District Trained Youth, Anwar Foundation, Desh Youth Organization, Women Entrepreneurs, GDF, all officials and employees of Sylhet District Youth Development, Sylhet Sadar Upazila Youth Development Office, Jagrata Youth Organization and many others who are not known by name.
Although the tenure of Sylhet Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development, Md. Rafiqul Islam Shamim, has been in Sylhet for just one and a half years, the farewell receptions organized by various organizations due to transfers prove that he is an official known to everyone for a century and a half.
Although many people want to organize the farewell reception ceremony, he is not able to give that time. Due to the manpower shortage, he seems to be busy organizing official work.
However, the farewell from Sylhet is very painful, he has joined two farewell receptions in between work with a bow.
In the middle of talking, he talked about the sweetness of the Sylhet language. He said that the Sylhet language is more magical than other languages. He likes to listen to it. Before his career, he was in journalism. That is why he develops a heart-to-heart relationship with journalists wherever he goes. After coming to Sylhet, due to the manpower shortage, he had to do a lot of work alone, as a result of which he expressed regret that he could not do the relationship with the media as he should have done as a media worker.
The official expressed his firm belief that even though he was transferred to Kishoreganj due to government regulations, he would have a close relationship with Sylhet. On the occasion of farewell, all these things were said at a tea ceremony held at a prestigious hotel in Sylhet on Thursday evening by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting while talking to the Executive Editor of Sylhet region’s first registered online news portal Ajker Sylhet and Sylhet Bureau Chief of The Daily Present Time, Emdadur Rahman Chowdhury Zia.
Senior youth entrepreneur Afiqul Islam Afiq, Office Secretary of South Surma Upazila Press Club Sadiqur Rahman Sohel, youth entrepreneur female leader Sonia Ahmed Keya, South Surma Upazila correspondent of English daily The Daily Country Today and Upazila Press Club member Habiba Akhter and others were present at the time.
It is worth noting that Sylhet Youth Development Department Deputy Director Md. Rafiqul Islam Shamim joined Sylhet district on April 16, 2023.
He started his career in 1996 as an assistant director of the Department of Youth Development in Chittagong district. Before that, he completed his higher education from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka and worked in journalism for a while. His current workplace is in Kishoreganj district.
