The students of five departments, including Development Studies, Folklore Studies, Fine Arts, Islamic History and Culture and Arabic Language and Literature to demanding permanent classrooms. Two departments gathered in front of the administrative building to demanding same problems on Tuesday and the three other departments already occupies third floor and forth floor the Rabindra-Nazrul Arts Faculty at Islamic University in Kushtia.
Representatives of the four departments met with the IU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, and then he assured them the issue will be solved thorough a logical way.
According to sources, the Islamic History and Culture and Fine Arts departments were allocated the rooms on the second and third floors of the Rabindra-Nazrul Arts building by the then VC, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdus Salam. During his time, the Development Studies and Arabic Language and Literature, and Folklore Studies departments later took over those rooms. As a result, students of the four departments have been demanding for two days to allocate them a permanent classrooms.
The Dean of the Arts Faculty, Prof. Dr. Amtaz Hossain, said, “We will work on again to redistribute the classrooms among these five departments so that the issues can be solved through a logical way.”
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah said, “The responsibility of the classrooms allocation is on the faculty dean. we will discuss with the Dean about the current issues through an effectiv ways.” He also assured that hopefully we will reach a fair solution.
In spite of having an assurance on behalf of the VC, students of the Fine Arts and Islamic History and Culture departments are continuing their protests unless the administration take an immediate action.
