In order to control the price of vegetables and reduce the violence of market-oriented syndicates, the social and voluntary organization Taqwa Foundation Bangladesh has started selling vegetables at purchase price across the country including the capital Dhaka. On Friday (October 25), the program was conducted in Mirpur and Mohampdpur of the capital Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Barura and Lalmai upazilas of Comilla. This activity was started from Thursday.
Gazi Yakub, chairman of Taqwa Foundation Bangladesh, said that this program is being conducted on a completely non-profit basis with the aim of delivering vegetables at a low price as part of social responsibility. Even from the purchase of vegetables to the delivery to the customer, all costs including car rental have been kept out of the sale price, he said.
On Friday (October 25), two points of the capital, Mirpur 1, the entrance of Ansar Camp-Mid Paikpara Road and Mohammadpur Embankment, a huge response was noticed among the buyers. After bringing the vegetables in the morning, it was all gone within an hour. Gourd is sold at Tk 25 per piece, gourd at Tk 50 per kg, rinds at Tk 50, lathi at Tk 40, chichinga at Tk 35, potal at Tk 40, papaya at Tk 20, brinjal at Tk 50, green chilli at Tk 160.
On Saturday (October 26), Dhaka’s Mirpur No. 12, Mohammadpur, Keraniganj, Lalbagh, Faridpur Sadar and Mymensingh Bhaluka markets were conducted in the same way, Gazi Yakub said. He also said that its range will be gradually increased across the country. This program is being conducted by volunteers across the country.
Incidentally, Gazi Yakub gained a wide reputation throughout the country by conducting social activities including free transportation and burial of dead bodies, oxygen supply, distribution of food items, free ambulance service throughout the country through Taqwa Foundation Bangladesh during the Corona period. Later, almost every year, during various crises including cold currents, floods and cyclones, the organization responded widely by conducting various activities with the help of helpless people. Apart from this, he recently gained a wide reputation by conducting relief and rehabilitation activities on a large scale among the flood affected people of Feni and Comilla districts. The number in this market will gradually increase and we have the idea of ​​doing it on a large scale across the country.
