An interfaith dialogue was organized by the Peace Facilitator Group (PFG) at Laksam, Comilla with the slogan “No, Peace and Harmony Bangladesh”. The program started with Holy Quran recitation, Gita reading and National Anthem conducted by Coordinator Syed Mohammad Nasir Uddin and Peace Facilitator Group (PFG) Laxam Peace Ambassador Bikash Chandra Laxam Upazila Executive Officer Abdul Hai Siddiqui was present as the chief guest. Laxam Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Nazia Binte Alam presented various issues of The Hunger Project’s field co- Ordinator Khodeja Begum, Youth Coordinator Noorunnabi Mohsin read the essay on harmony movement and PFG member Mir Mohammad Abu Bakar Siddique read the declaration. Ghazimura Aliya Madrasa Vice Principal Dr Aminul Islam, Fulgaon Fazil (Degree) Madrasa Principal Maulana Yasin Majumdar, Al Jamiatul Abrar Madrasa Muhtamim Maulana Md Yusuf, Housing State Jame Masjid Imam Maulana Md Khorshed Alam, Maulana Md Shahidul Islam, former Ambassador Mubarak of PFG spoke. Hossain Bhuiyan, Principal of Majlishpur Dharmakora Buddha Vihar Pragya Joti Mahathero, Professor Amar Bhattacharya, Chandan Banerjee, ISKCON Director Snigdha Krishna Das, Islami Foundation Supervisor Md. Anwar Hossain. PFG Laxam Unit Peace Ambassador Md. Sirajul Haque, Nazmun Nahar Nupur, Noore Alam Manik, PFG member Arifur Rahman Swapan, Md. Kamal Uddin, Salim Chowdhury Hira, Afratul Karim Rimu, Md. Mamun Hossain, Youth Group Coordinator Taslima Akhtar, Citizens for Good Governance (Sujan) Laksam Upazila General Secretary Shahidul Islam Shaheen, 8 unions of Laksam Upazila and various mosques of Laksam Municipality, Imams, Khatibs, temple priests, religious gurus of Buddhism, journalists, representatives of civil society and other important persons were present.

The speakers said that one of the goals of the great liberation war was to establish equality, human dignity and social justice for every citizen of this country. We are moving forward with the dream of building a Bangladesh of peace and harmony, forgetting the differences between people. We want to build our beloved homeland as a developed, prosperous and dignified state in the world. We want to build a humane and justice-based society where every person will be safe, everyone will be guaranteed a peaceful life with dignity keeping their religion, culture or belief intact. All the participants and religious leaders from the inter-faith dialogue program expressed their strong conviction to create the laksam of social harmony free from extremism and extremism.

Finally, the participants signed the declaration containing 11 declarations unanimously to protect the inter-religious harmony of the upazila.
