Amtali Correspondent HM Kawsar Madbar, Joint General Secretary of Amtali Journalist Union, Amtali Correspondent of Daily Manabkanth Patrika was hacked and injured by the terrorists for stopping him from consuming drugs.

The incident happened last Monday night in front of East Kewabunya Government Primary School of the upazila.

Amtali journalists held a protest meeting in this incident on Tuesday afternoon.

It has been reported that 6-7 youth gangs including youth gang leader Imran Biswas and Rahman Howladar were consuming drugs in the class room of East Kewabunya Government Primary School of Amtali Upazila. Even though the school teachers and locals forbade it, they did not comply. Last Saturday afternoon in a class room of that school, youth gang leader Imran Biswas, Rahman Howladar and their associates were consuming drugs. At that time Amtali Journalist Union Joint General Secretary Manabkantha newspaper’s upazila representative HM Kawsar blocked Madbar. Drug addict youth gang leader Imran Biswas, Rahman Howladar and their associates were angered by this. Journalist HM Kawsar Madbar was returning home from Mahishkata market on Monday night. On the way, as soon as he reached in front of Purb Kewabunya School, the drug addict youth gang leader Imran Biswas, Rahman Howladar and their accomplices hacked him with sharp guts. He suffered serious head injuries. When people rushed to his call, the teenage gang leaders fled. Later the locals rescued him and brought him to Amtali Upazila Health Complex. Doctor Moniruzzaman Khan treated him in that hospital. He is currently under treatment at Amtali Upazila Health Complex. Journalists of Amtali held a protest meeting on Tuesday afternoon demanding the arrest and punishment of those involved in this incident.

In this protest meeting at the Journalist Union office, Journalist Union President Daily Yugantar Staff Reporter Md. Jasim Uddin Sikder presided over the meeting. Union General Secretary Md. Hossain Ali Kazi addressed the meeting, Amtali Press Club President Adv. Shahabuddin Panna, Senior Journalist Khan Matiar Rahman, Paritosh Karmakar, Channel Amtali Director Saifullah Nasir, Amtali Press Club Ex-President AKM Khairul Bashar Bulbul, Barguna Journalist Union Ex-General Secretary Arif Hossain Fosal, Press Club General Secretary Syed Nuhu-ul Alam Naveen, Journalist Union Ex-President General Secretary Md Zainul Abedin, Upazila Press Club President M Said Khokon, Press Club Former General Secretary SM Nashir Mahmud, Journalist Club President Sumon Rashid, Bashir Ahmed, Ripon Munsi, Journalist Forum President Masum Billah, Journalist Saidur Rahman Sajib, Mahbub Biswas Titu, HM Russell. , Md Fakhruddin Tahsin, Rashemul Haque Rimon and Sajjad Sharif were present.

Injured journalist HM Kawsar Madbar said, last Saturday afternoon, 6-7 drug addicts, including youth gang leaders Imran Biswas and Rahman Howladar, were sitting inside Purb Kwabunya Government Primary School and consuming drugs. I stop them from taking drugs at school. They got angry with me. As a result of this incident, on Monday night I was going home from Mahishkata market with medicine, on the way 6-7 youth gang led by Imran Biswas and Rahman Howlader deliberately cut me from behind with sharp weapons and seriously injured me. I demand the punishment of the terrorists in this incident.

Dr. Moniruzzaman Khan, Medical Officer of Amtali Upazila Health Complex, said that journalist Kawsar Madbar has injuries in different parts of his body including sharp weapon injuries on his head. He was given proper treatment.

Amtali Police Station OC Md. Ariful Islam Arif said, I have sent the police to the spot after receiving the information. If a complaint is received, those involved in the incident will be arrested and brought under the law.
