1000 kg of carp mixed fish fingerlings have been given to 100 marginal fish farmers in Comilla District Barura Upazila.
On Thursday and Friday (October 17 and 18) morning, the upazila fisheries department organized a total of 1000 kg of carp mixed fry (rui, katla, mrigel, kalibaush) at Parishad and Payalgacha of the upazila to distribute these fry among 100 flood-affected marginal fish farmers.
Under the leadership of Upazila Fisheries Officer Suraiya Jahan Neetu and under the chairmanship of Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Ahmed Hasan, free fry fish were distributed among marginal fish farmers for two days.
District Fisheries Officer Belal Hossain was the chief guest in the distribution of fish to marginal fish farmers. He said that under the revenue budget of the Department of Fisheries, many fish farmers of different unions of the upazila were affected by the flood of 2024. At that time I sent the list of affected fish farmers to the higher authorities. In this context, under the revenue budget of the Department of Fisheries, 1000 kg of fingerlings have been distributed as part of incentives to 100 affected fish farmers.
Marginal fish farmer Helena Akhter said, very happy to get the fry. All the fish in the pond are gone due to flood. Today, if we get fish in the pond with fish, we build a dam around it.
Another fish farmer Mizanur Rahman said, fish worth lakhs of rupees has gone, will there be enough 10 kg fish?
Assistant Director (District Fisheries Office) Ashok Kumar Das, Upazila Agriculture Officer Zahidul Islam, Upazila Fisheries Officer (Reserve) Mr. Sudipta Mishra, Lalmai Upazila Fisheries Officer Habibur Rahman and Upazila Youth Development Officer Borhan Uddin etc. were present.
