The District and Sessions Judge Court has sentenced 3 defendants to life imprisonment, fine of 50 thousand taka, and two more years of rigorous imprisonment in the case of the bullet killing of Lalmonirhat leader Fakhrul Islam.
The court acquitted six of the 11 accused, including Ekramul Haque and Mithu, and the remaining two died.
Lalmonirhat District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Md Adeeb Ali passed the verdict at 4:30 pm on Wednesday. At that time, the acquitted 3 defendants were present in the court, but the other defendants, including those sentenced to life imprisonment, were absent.
Awami League leader Aminul Khan, son of Hyder Khan, son of Kazi Chowra area of ​​Harati Union of Sadar Upazila, Farhad Hossain Bipul Khan, son of Fazle Khan of the same area and Masjidul Khan, son of Golzar Khan, were sentenced to life imprisonment.
It is known that Sramik League leader Fakhrul Islam Bullet, son of Enamul Haque Master of Chinipara area of ​​Mahendranagar Union of Sadar Upazila, had been in dispute for a long time with No. 1 Asami Awami League leader Aminul Khan regarding the lease of local haat, load and unload commission of government fertilizer godown.
As a result of that dispute, on the night of June 27, 2015, Awami League leader Aminul Khan called Sramik League leader Bullet from his home. Later, Awami League leader Aminul Khan and his associates took him to a bamboo grove near Mahendnagar Bazar in Sadar Upazila and hacked him with domestic sharp weapons including chapati. Later, when the locals took the Shreek League leader Bullet to Sadar Hospital in a bloody state, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Later, Enamul Haque Sarkar, the father of the bullet killed in the incident, filed a case at the Sadar police station accusing 11 people including the Awami League leader Aminul Khan. After 9 long years, the court finally announced the judgment of this discussed case on Wednesday.
Akmal Hossain, the official PP advocate of Lalmonirhat court, said that after 9 years of hearing, the court announced the verdict of this murder case. The plaintiff expressed satisfaction with the verdict.
