Special VGF rice has been distributed to registered fishermen among the fishermen who refrained from fishing during the Hilsa breeding season in Amtali, Barguna. It is known that the government has banned the collection, transportation, storage, marketing, buying and selling and exchange of hilsa fish throughout the country for 22 days from 13 October to 3 November 2024, the main breeding season of hilsa in order to preserve hilsa resources. During the Prohibition period, the government allocates special VGF rice to the fishermen. 25 kg of rice was distributed among 602 people of Chawra Union and 1 thousand 640 registered fishermen of Gulishakhali Union who refrained from collecting hilsa from the sea and river during the prohibited time of the fishermen of Chawra Union and Gulishakhali Union in front of Amtali Food Warehouse on Wednesday.
During this time Tag Officer Doctor Roknuzzaman, representative of Sajedul Islam Upazila Fisheries Office Himel UP members and local dignitaries were present.
Gulishakhali UP Chairman Adm. HM Monirul Islam Moni said that 25 kg of rice has been distributed among 1,640 registered fishermen of the union under the special VGF program of the government to ease the suffering of fishermen who refrain from collecting hilsa.
