Two youths died due to excessive drinking in Charbhangura village of Bhangura upazila in Pabna. In this incident, three more people have been admitted to the hospital. They died on Monday night.
The two deceased are Rabin Ghosh (25) son of Ramchandra Ghosh and Hriday Chowdhury (17) son of Manik Chowdhury of Char Bhangura village of the upazila.


Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhangura police station. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the news of the death of two people who fell ill due to drinking alcohol.


Locals said that five youths of Ghoshpara of Charbhangura village of the upazila fell ill after drinking alcohol after the Durga Puja festival on Monday evening. They are friends of each other. They were first admitted to Bhangura Upazila Health Complex on Monday night. Hriday Chowdhury died on the way to Pabna General Hospital from there around 9:30 pm. And when Robin Ghosh was taken to Pabna General Hospital, the doctor on duty there declared him dead around 10:30 pm.


Ujjal Hossain, a doctor on duty at the emergency department of Bhangura Upazila Health Complex, said, ‘Five people were brought to the health complex. I heard that they get sick from excessive drinking. There were also signs of this in the sick. We have received news of two deaths. Three seriously ill people are admitted to Pabna General Hospital.
OC of Bhangura Police Station. Shafiqul Islam said, ‘Five people fell ill due to drinking. Two of them died. The police reached the spot and prepared the body. Legal action is pending.’
