Former Planning Minister and former Member of Parliament of Sunamganj-3 Constituency MA Mannan has fallen ill in jail.
When he felt ill on Saturday morning, he was first taken to Sunamganj District Hospital. Doctors there sent him to Osmani Medical College Hospital on Saturday afternoon.
Rafiqul Islam, Resident Medical Officer of Sunamganj District Hospital said that MA Mannan was brought to the hospital on Saturday morning due to chest pain. He is also suffering from depression. He has been referred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
However, at the time of writing this report at 4 pm, Mannan Osmani had not reached the hospital. However, a hospital source said that a cabin has been prepared for him.
However, Humayun Kabir of Sunamganj District Jail said that M Mannan was already sick. Some lawyers applied to the court for his medical treatment. After that the court ordered to take Mannan’s treatment. Following this instruction, he was sent to the hospital.
Mannan was arrested from his home in Sunamganj’s Shantiganj upazila on the night of September 19.
After his arrest, locals including students protested in his own area Shanti Ange demanding Mannan’s release.
