The family of the victim has complained that those involved in the public shooting of Reduan in Pangmadhpur village of No. 1 Khalilpur Union of Sadar Upazila of Moulvibazar are roaming around in public areas and threatening to withdraw the case. Faisal Ahmed, on behalf of the victim’s family, held a press conference in the hall room of the city’s western restaurant on September 26 at noon, demanding the arrest of all the accused persons involved in the incident, including the murderer.
In a written statement, he said – on July 28, around 7 o’clock in the morning, about a hundred people, including Akbar, Liaqat, Mukid, Akman, Sayek, Zaytun, Jamshed, Michili, Chufi, Suman, Chayad and Javed, gathered together on the order of Lefas Mi, a resident of the same village. His house was attacked. At that time Reduan was shot and killed on the spot. At that time, as soon as other people came forward to save them after hearing Halla screams, they were shot at. At that time, Lefus shot Mau Begum’s legs with a gun and shot a person named Akman in his chest. One, Hasid Mia, was shot and had one of his legs amputated. When a man named Hossain was admitted to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital with a bullet wound in his chest, the doctor on duty removed the bullet from his chest and handed it over to the police and he later underwent advanced treatment in Dhaka.
Reshna Begum, the mother of Reduan who was killed in these incidents, filed a complaint at Moulvibazar Model Police Station – Akbar Hossain (55), Lefach Mia (35), Akman Mia (39), Mohsin Mia (28), Liakat Mia (44), Mukit Mia (50), Sayek Mia (45), Zaytun Mia (50), Javed Ali (30), Suman Mia (26), Chayed Mia (50), Jamshed Mia (60), Javed Mia (27), Sohail Mia (35), Faisal Mia (32), Emran Mia (22), Humayun Ahmad (26), Sufi Mia (60), Michil Mia (35), Lefach Mia (60), Phulkach Mia (50), Chikan Mia (45), Dalim Mia (55) ), Kalam Mia (60), Ripon Mia (45), Russell Mia (35), Afzal Mia (28), Ani Mia (35), Shyamal Mia (37), Enamul Mia (30), Ahad Mia (50), Jamal Miah (35), Rajib Miah (37), Jahed Miah (28), Saheed Miah (22), Jahangir Miah (28), Saidul Miah (35), Samshul Haque (35), Ainul Haque (28), Selu Miah (35), Lilu Mia (50), Nurul Haque (27), Kalai Mia (36), Rupali Mia (60), Hasan Mia (22), Zamir Mia (35), Kawshar Mia (35), Kadir Mia (60) ), Shahan Mia (28), Jewel Mia (28), Dilabar Mia (55), Zainal Mia (25), Sundar Mia (60), Jasim Mia (35), Sakin Mia (20), Raihan Mia (19), Iman Mia (19), Matin Mia (55), Shaheen Mia (22), Ashiq Mia (55), Kala Mia (35), Tajel Mia (25), Noor Ahmad (22), Saleh Ahmad (25), Zaheed Mia (21), Ujjal Miah (20), Rahel Miah (19), Tar Miah (50), Shabnaz Miah (19), Amir Uddin (45), and 10/15 others who have not been named are accused in the case (Case No-39/ 215, Date : 30/07/2024) filed.
The plaintiff in the case alleged that 5-6 people are in jail in the filed case. But Akbar and Akman, the main accused in the murder case, are staying in Dubai and Saudi. There are still threats from abroad. On the afternoon of September 23, Ezahar’s named accused Mukid Mia, Chufi Mia, Javed Mia, Lefas, Liaquat, Chayad, Jamshedgong again threatened to withdraw the said case.
When the threat was reported to the Additional Superintendent of Police of Moulvibazar Sadar Circle, he hung up saying that he could not do anything about it. The same was reported to the concerned Sherpur police outpost SI Niaz Mohammad Sharif, but he did not take any legal action.
The victim’s family complained that the killers still have weapons. We feel that the administration is giving silent consent to the killings without helping us. Where is the justice to whom to ask? There are more victims of the village. Along with them, the Lephas Miagongs tortured and oppressed the family in several ways. Requested to recover those weapons and take necessary action against them.
The victims were present at the press conference among others – Md Faisal Ahmad, Khaled Miah, Haji Anor Miah, Ashkar Miah, Farooq Miah, Fakhrul Miah, Hussain Miah, Asid Miah, Nausha Miah, Alad Miah, Masum Miah, Yarup Miah, Ripon Miah, Suman Mia, Saleh Mia, Fahim Mia, Reshana Begum, Rajna Begum, Narjana Begum and Meena Begum etc.
