A Dhaka-bound ‘Drutyan Express’ train hit a truck that had stopped while crossing the Puranapail railway crossing at Joypurhat. The front engine part of the truck was twisted. There were no casualties.
The incident took place on Wednesday (September 24) around 12:30 pm at the Puranapail rail crossing area of Sadar.
Eyewitnesses said that a truck loaded with panikchu coming from Panchbibi was heading towards Joypurhat. While crossing the Puranapail rail gate, the engine stopped when it went over the line. At that time, the Dhaka-bound express train also arrived. Later, people including the driver of the truck jumped and left from there. The train hit the engine of the truck and stopped a short distance away.
Puranapail railway gate man Imran Hossain said the truck stopped at the railway crossing. At this time, the high-speed express train from Panchagarh to Dhaka arrived. After that, Railcross Island was taken over. And half could not be thrown. Then take the red flag and go 100 yards ahead. As the speeding train slows down, it hits the truck. Although the truck was damaged, there were no casualties.
Joypurhat Railway Station Master Rezaul Islam said that the front part of the truck was damaged in the accident at Puranapail railway crossing. But no casualty was reported. The train was standing there for 10 to 15 minutes after the accident. Later the train left.
