China will strengthen cooperation in development of Bangladesh’s water resources management – Environment Advisor

Water Resources and Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that China will increase assistance in water management and conservation in Bangladesh. They also promised to share water related information during floods. China has also offered to increase technical cooperation and training between the two countries.

On Wednesday, a courtesy call was held between Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen and Environment Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan at the Bangladesh Secretariat. In the meeting, there was a discussion on increasing cooperation in water management and environmental protection between the two countries.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that it has been proposed to form a joint committee to increase cooperation in water management. Through this, river management, flood prevention and infrastructure projects can be worked together. He said that the cooperation of friendly countries like China is necessary to protect the environment and combat climate change.

The Chinese ambassador said that China is a true friend of Bangladesh and this relationship will get stronger. He expressed interest in working with Bangladesh in areas such as river pollution control, solar energy, electric vehicles, flood control and smart water management.

The secretaries of the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, the Director General of the Bangladesh Water Development Board and the officials of the Chinese Embassy were present in the meeting.

The meeting ended with hopes for increased cooperation between the two countries in the future.
