Murder case against 126 people including former home minister in Kushtia

A case has been registered in connection with the killing of a man named Bablu Faraji by shooting him in the head during the anti-discrimination student movement in Kushtia. Former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has been accused as the instigator in the case. Besides, three former Kushtia MPs Mahabub Ul Alam Hanif, Kamarul Arefin and Abdur Rauf, Kushtia Additional Superintendent of Police Palash Kanti Nath, Kushtia Sadar Model Police Station OC Mahfuzul Haque and several SIs of Sadar Police Station, Hanif’s brother Ataur Rahman Ata, Kushtia District Awami League President Sadar Uddin. Khan, General Secretary Azgar Ali and 126 people including Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League and Swachhasebak League were booked. On Monday (August 19) afternoon, the deceased Babul’s son Sujan Mahmud filed the case in the court of Kushtia Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahmuda Sultana. According to court sources, the judge took cognizance of the case and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate and submit a report. It is to be noted that Babul was shot dead at Thana Junction in the city during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5. He used to sell towels and lungis by ferries to the city. Babul Kushtia is the son of deceased Nowsher Ali of Haripur village of Sadar Upazila.
