An inmate named Baharu Badsha has died in Rangpur Central Jail. He died around eight o’clock in the morning. There was tension among the prisoners in this incident. Later the chase and counter-chase happened.
Bahadur Mia’s son Bahadur of Pirganj, Rangpur was imprisoned. In the morning, the inmates clashed over his death. When tension broke out inside the jail, the police fired blanks and brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, army personnel are on alert along with RAB police outside the prison.
In this incident, Rangpur District Commissioner Mobaswer Hasan and GOC Major General Shakeel Ahmed of 66 Division are staying inside the prison. They are trying to convince the prisoners.
Rangpur District Commissioner Mobashwar Hasan said that there was a fight between the two sides of the prisoners. One prisoner died. In this incident, two prison guards have been suspended from service and a 3-member committee has been formed. Legal action will be taken against the culprit subject to proper investigation.
