Allegedly, most of the gang members are from the same family, including female members. One of the members of the gang, Md. Harun-ur-Rashid alias Bodybuilder Harun, Md. Anwar Hossain, Md. Delwar Hossain, Md. Belaluddin, Md. Helaluddin and their associates attacked the police in various police stations and courts of the country, using electronic and print media to carry out defamatory campaigns. This information has been obtained by analyzing more than 1 dozen cases filed in various police stations of the country, numerous general diaries and various newspaper reports on charges of blackmailing, robbery, use of illegal weapons, theft of government property, obstruction of government work, extortion, creation of forged documents, and fraud. There are also allegations that Harun ur Rasid’s house is in Cox’s Bazar, Teknaf is in the Neela-Burma border area and is involved in the sale and transportation of various narcotics.
Recently, it was reported that the gang has defrauded the chairman of the country’s leading export-oriented industrial group of Tk 93 lakh. After demanding more money, they threatened to hold a false press conference at the National Press Club under the banner of the influential lawyer’s human rights organization against the group. The investigation revealed that since the chairman of the organization was known to Harun’s father, he started traveling to the organization in a planned manner and when the chairman of the group went to the village house, Harun or On 25/05/2018, Rashid Prakash Bodybuilders wrote an open letter to Majlum regarding his various problems and financial distress and applied to the chairman of the group to offer him an opportunity to do vestage business in the group and because of the lack of working capital of the business, in simple trust by cash and check. 93 lakhs from the chairman’s personal bank account as a loan from time to time.
At one stage of the business, Harun ur Rashid Prakash bodybuilders came to know about the various irregularities/misdeeds and the fugitive accused in the same case, stopped all business transactions with Harun including the vestige business of the group.
In January 2021, Md. Harun ur Rashid (35) personally brought a file to the office of Md. Abu Hanif, the niece of the chairman of the company. Abu Hanif opened the file and sent it to your uncle on cable and took out some applications, paper cuttings, legal notices and office copies of repetitions from that file and said that if your uncle returns Rs.93,00,000/- (ninety three lakhs) to me. If he wants, he will send these petitions on behalf of Human Rights Peace for Bangladesh to ACC, NBR, Customs House Chittagong, Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Prime Minister’s Office. Harun ur Rashid was using the name of “Human Rights Space for Bangladesh” and various important government departments including the Prime Minister and using the names of various important departments of the government and by creating various types of fake documents, threatening to blackmail the owners of various groups. The two workers said the same thing and said that Harun called them and threatened to hold a false press conference at the National Press Club under the banner of a human rights organization.
The former public relations officer of the organization Anal Raihan alleged that Harun demanded Tk 2 crore from him to stop the false press conference, ACC, NBR, Customs, Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Prime Minister’s Office and to manage the lawyer of Human Rights Peace for Bangladesh. After that, a case was filed at Motijheel police station on behalf of the organization. When the police raided and arrested Haroon after filing the case, his accomplices escaped and the accused Haroon was handed over to the learned court. Harun is a habitual violent offender and has enough knowledge of criminal law to get bail in a short period of time by circumventing the law. After getting out of prison and rejoining his previous profession, Harun indulged in similar blackmailing attempts.
When Harun was arrested in case No. 33(01)21 of Motijheel police station, the other members of the syndicate took him out on bail. After coming out of the jail, he again started cheating, threatening, blackmailing and terrorist activities. Such information has emerged in the police report submitted to the court regarding the various cases filed in different police stations of the country in the name of the gang. Besides, the gang is accused of extorting money from the owners of several brick kilns in Chittagong by threatening the writ petition of the influential lawyer. On 28/01/2021, the owners of the brickworks held a press conference at Lohagara, Chittagong, seeking the intervention of the government and administration in this regard. Later, after a long hearing in the case of 33(01)21, the CMM court of Dhaka sentenced Harun to 4 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10,000 for 3 months. Imprisonment without labor.
According to the documents of the case, Harun or Rasid Prakash bodybuilders are the sons of the deceased Siddique Ahmed of Sardarni Para village of Lohagara police station of Chittagong district. He has no legitimate permanent income. Mastani, smuggling, robbery and extortion are his main occupations in his own and surrounding areas. His accomplices in these misdeeds are his brothers, Md. Anwar Hossain, Md. Delwar Hossain, Delwar’s wife, Md. Helaluddin, Md. Belaluddin, Harun’s sister Hamida and their associates from Chittagong’s Lohagara, Chakria and Banshkhali. The cycle originated several years ago. However, in 2005, they were named in the police register through a case under the Forest Act for the crime of illegal logging of government forests. It is known that there are cases against the gang members in Chittagong’s Lohagara, Patia, Satkania, Kotwali and capital’s Motijheel and Kotwali police stations, general diaries are also alleged.
In May 2017, when the Lohagara Police Station of Chittagong tried to arrest Harun, he attacked the police. Police SI Md Helal Khan, while describing Harun’s brutality in the case filed by the police as the plaintiff in this incident, said, “When the accused Delwar Hossain went to the house of the accused Delwar Hossain after receiving the secret information, the accused Delwar Hossain started killing us with force while fleeing. At one stage the above-mentioned accused simultaneously attacked me and my companion force with various deadly native weapons. At that time accused Harun aka Bodybuilder Harun hit my partner SI Md Fakhrul Islam’s left leg with a hockey stick.
After the arrest of Haroon’s accomplices at the same police station in August 2017, in a dacoity case filed against them by the police as plaintiff, the plaintiff SI Mofizul Islam stated, ‘The arrested accused have confessed that they are Harun alias bodybuilder Harun of Adhunagar Sardarni Para, along with his brothers Maulvi Delwar and Helal. After planning on where to rob at night, Barahatia under Lohagara police station gathered on the east side of the field adjacent to Magdighi Government Primary School. In another part of the same statement, SI Mofizul mentioned, ‘In the interrogation in front of the witnesses, they used to rob various places including Banshkhali, Satkania and Lohagara of Chittagong district along with the absconding accused Harun alias bodybuilder Harun and Mizanur Rahman.’
In a case filed under the Information Technology Act in 2017 at the Chittagong Metropolitan Police’s Kotayali Police Station, Haroon’s propaganda on social media was described; Fazle Elahi Arzu, the plaintiff in the case, mentioned, ‘The defendants are former prime minister’s military secretary, Major General (retired) Mia Muhammad. Zainul Abedin Birbikram, former Member of Parliament of Chittagong 15 constituencies Professor Dr. Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi and former elected member of Chittagong Zilla Parishad and former member of Zilla Parishad Anwar Kamal have deliberately created confusion in the public mind by publishing and broadcasting false obscene, defamatory and ugly website Facebook and electronic format. In the said case, Haroon ur Rasid was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and 20 thousand taka fine and 1 year of imprisonment without labor. Apart from this, Harun and his accomplices started spreading propaganda against the then OC of Lohagara police station in Chittagong district through social media for the purpose of blackmailing and extorting money. Their aim was to extract the documents from the OC in the name of stopping the propaganda. In this incident, SI Md Zakir Shikder mentioned in the statement of a case filed at that police station, “”The mentioned accused are lying and indecent on social media Facebook.
I am shocked to see that the officer-in-charge of Lohagara Police Station and the Bangladesh Police has dishonored by posting defamatory and ugly posts. The defendants have been regularly prosecuted against the defendants for violating section 57 (2) of the Information and Communication Technology Act 2006 by constantly posting obscene, false, defamatory and ugly posts from various Facebook IDs. In 2023, Harun was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and 20,000 Tk fine in the case. Although the police arrested Harun at various times and handed him over to the court, Harun evaded the law with the help of the influential lawyer of Human Rights Peace for Bangladesh. He and his accomplices got out of jail on bail. Their misdeeds started again, the victims alleged.
Analysis of case 27 (Motijheel police station) filed under Digital Security Act on 23/03/2023 shows that as part of fraud and blackmailing, fake Facebook ID named “Sabrina Sultana Kaya” is false in the name of Founder Chairman of Khulia Noman Group Md. Nurul Islam and Noman Group. Md. Harun ur Rasid, Md. Anwar Hossain and 7 other gang members were made defendants in the said case for publishing fabricated, baseless, motivated, misleading and defamatory information.
Mainly: Harun ur Rasid alias bodybuilders and Md. Anwar Hossain Gong identified fraudsters, rioters, law breakers, active members of dacoit gangs, illegal weapons holders, attackers of government officials and employees, embezzlers of money through various forgeries, fraudsters, drug- Traders and transporters of goods. There are several cases under investigation and trial against them in different police stations of the country including riots, illegal weapons, beating of government employees, preparation of robbery and various forgery cases. It is known that they have no legitimate profession of their own, and have taken various frauds and crimes as professions.
