Women’s T20 World Cup new sports adviser sounded message of hope

Women’s T20 World Cup will be in Bangladesh? Or will the ICC move the biggest event of women’s cricket to another place under the pretext of security in political unrest?

It would not be right to say rumours. However, word of mouth has spread among cricket fans. Especially on social media some negative talk is being heard about Women’s World Cup. Some are trying to say that this World Cup may not be held in Bangladesh.

But hearing Bangladesh’s new sports advisor Asif Mahmud, it seems the interim government is determined to host women’s T20 cricket in Bangladesh. The new government is ready to do everything possible to organize that mega cricket event.

Speaking to the media at the ministry on Sunday, Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud said that he has already spoken to the BCB about the Women’s World Cup.

It is known that some directors of BCB including Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan went to the ministry on Sunday and met the newly appointed Sports Advisor.

In this context, sports advisor Asif Mahmud said, “We have talked to BCB about the Women’s T20 World Cup. The most important task is to ensure safety. There is some work to be done from the government level in ensuring security. I will talk to Yunus sir (interim government chief Dr. Muhammad Yunus) about this today.’

Chief advisor. Calling Muhammad Yunus a sports fan and sports lover, Asif Mahmud said, “He is a sports-loving person, he will definitely help us in this regard.”

With that, we will make arrangements to ensure security from the government level. We will also talk to the UN about this so that they can suggest and resolve the travel restrictions that some countries have. And there are some infrastructural developments, the honorable secretary has assured me that they will be done soon’ – added the new sports advisor.
