Mohiuddin Ripon is a generous man from Jagannathpur Union of Comilla Adarsh Sadar Upazila. Although he is a pickup driver, his life is not limited to this profession. Amidst his busy schedule, he is known as a humane and compassionate person who always comes forward to stand by the common man.
Although Mohiuddin Ripon himself was deprived of the light of education, he had a deep love for students in his heart. He understands well the struggles and problems of a student. Recently, during the anti-discrimination student movement, after the establishment of the second independent Bangladesh, to prevent attacks on temples in various places, he along with the locals helped guard the 400-year-old temple of Jagannath Dev in his locality Jagannathpur.
Speaking to the temple priests, “We feel safe because of Driver Ripon’s guard.” They added, “We have been living in Hindu-Muslim harmony for a long time, and we are very safe in that.”
On August 5, 2024, after the country’s newly gained independence, when the absence of the traffic police led to gridlock, anti-discrimination student mobs came forward to work on the traffic. On August 10, Mohiuddin Ripon distributed food items to students in charge of traffic control. Along with all the family members, he delivered food to the students in a rain-soaked pickup. The rain was no obstacle; His family also supported the venture. Mohiuddin Ripon wants to be associated with the good work of the students by cooperating with them and thus he stands by the students.
Common people are very satisfied with this selfless work of Mohiuddin Ripon. It is known that driver Mohiuddin is the son of a poor father in Jagannathpur, but he has already engaged himself in philanthropy. For this reason, the locals know him as the ‘Humane Driver’.
Everyone has something to do in changing society. People like Mohiuddin Ripon should be encouraged. This is how the society will change, the country will change – that’s what the common people think.
