The students of various public and private universities and colleges of Khulna have protested against the quota reform and the attack on the agitating students. On Tuesday (July 16) at 10:30 a.m., students of various colleges including BL College, Haji Muhammad Mohsin College held a protest march and blocked the road at the new road junction of the metropolis. The students’ blockade caused traffic jams.
The students of Khulna University (Khubi) held a protest march and rally against the Prime Minister’s comments on students. On Tuesday at 12 noon, the protest march started from Hadi Chatwar of the university and the students participating in the protest marched around the university campus and stayed at the zero point intersection at the entrance of the city.
A large gathering of students of Khulna University, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Northern University, BL College was observed in today’s movement. The presence of around two to three thousand agitating general students was observed here.

A student who participated in the movement said, “We have been agitating for a long time with logical demands. Where will we go if we are treated like this by those who are our demands of the state? In protest of such comments of the Prime Minister, the student society across the country strongly condemned last night. We all students are carrying out this program today due to the comments of the Prime Minister. We are hopeful that the Prime Minister will understand his mistake and accept the demands of the student society.
A student of Khulna Engineering and Technology University said, “Reformation of quota system is our exclusive demand. The current quota system is doing injustice to the deserving and talented. We want to get our place based on merit. Our demand is that the quota system should be reviewed and reformed, so that the fair rights of the talented are ensured. We want proper assessment of talent for the betterment of the country. And at the same time we demand a fair investigation into the violence being done by the police and various political organizations on the students”.
A student of Northern University said, “Police and political groups attacked us for questioning the peaceful anti-discrimination quota movement. We are still following the path of peace, we do not want to engage in any kind of violence. But I strongly condemn the ongoing situation and strongly demand quota reform.”
Earlier on Monday midnight at the main gate of the university, after hearing slogans of Chhatra League, the students were seen marching out of the hall to Zero Point intersection.
The agitating students said, we have been carrying out a peaceful movement for the reasonable demand of quota reform. However, attacks have been carried out on ordinary students in different parts of the country. Strongly condemn and protest this heinous attack. Many of our brothers and sisters were injured in the attack They are bleeding. I demand justice in this case. Our movement will continue until the demands are met. We will return home as soon as the demand is met.
