Police have arrested two robbers who hacked and injured Chauddagram Upazila Chhatra League president Taufiqul Islam Sabuj (30) with a sharp weapon on the south bank of Rani Dighi in Comilla city and recovered the goods within 36 hours of robbing his mobile phone and cash. The weapon used in the robbery was recovered.
Superintendent of Police Md Saidul Islam gave this information on Monday afternoon (July 15). In a press conference organized at the District Police Superintendent’s office, the Superintendent of Police said that on July 13, a League leader named Taufiqul Islam Sabuj from Rani Dighirpar of the city was threatened with a weapon and injured by cutting his mobile phone. After stealing the cash, the robbers got into a battery-powered autorickshaw and fled.
In this incident, on July 14, the victim filed a case at the Sabuj Kotyali Model Police Station. Under the direction of the Superintendent of Police, a police operation was launched under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Kamran Hossain. Later on Monday night on July 15, Md Rocky (19) from Muradpur of the city and Al Mokadim Riaz (25) from West Thakurpara area were arrested. A chapati used for robbery and a chisel were seized from them. Apart from this, 4 thousand 500 rupees were recovered. The arrested are the son of Shahalm Mia of Rani Dakshin Chartha area of ​​Rani city and Al Mokadim son of Syed Ahmad Khokon of Nonabad Colony area of ​​Rani Bazar of Riyaz city.
A case has been filed against them at the police station. The Superintendent of Police said, quoting the arrested persons, that they admitted their involvement in the incident during the initial interrogation. They have been robbing the city and surrounding areas for a long time. There are several cases against them. The arrested have been sent to court.
