A written complaint has been lodged with the police station in the incident of a student being picked up and beaten up in the hall for making a video of blocking the quota movement in Comilla. A charge sheet was issued against 20 people, including the names of four people. After the incident on Friday (July 13), the student’s father Ali Asad filed the complaint at Kotyali police station in Comilla on Saturday evening. The matter was confirmed by Kotyali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Hossain.

The victim of torture is a first year degree student of Comilla Victoria College.

According to the source of the charge sheet, in the written complaint, 16 other people are named as defendants along with the names of four persons.

According to the sources, BCL college aspirants picked up a student and beat him up in the hall for making a video of blocking the quota movement in Comilla. The incident took place at Nazrul Hall of Comilla Victoria College on Friday (July 11) afternoon. Tamim’s father Ali Asad filed a written complaint in the name of four people at the Kotyali Model Police Station.

The accused students are Habib Ghazi, Master’s student of Political Science Department, Safiullah of Master’s Social Work Department, HM Tanveer of Bachelor’s Department of English, Sajjad Hossain, fourth year student of Accountancy Department. Also 12-16 people are involved in collaboration.

Tamim’s father Ali Asad said they took him to a room on the 2nd floor of Nazrul Hall. He was detained there for about two hours. Meanwhile, Bedam physically beat him. He lost consciousness due to the bloody wound. He hit his back with a hard stick. Tries to pull out right thumb nail. Hit with a sharp weapon causing deep injury on the left hand. Hits left neck, left hand, left corner of eye. He lost his memory when he was hit on the head with intent to kill. Since then he has been speaking incoherently. At the time of the incident, they recorded a video on their mobile phone by threatening to kill him and extracting a false statement. And they seized the mobile used in his hand and took about six thousand rupees in his pocket.

Injured Tamim said that at 3 pm on Friday in front of the college’s Bangabandhu Mural, students were recording a video of the students protesting under the banner of anti-discrimination student movement. Meanwhile, some students of the residential Nazrul Hall of the college took away his mobile phone. He was taken to Nazrul Hall, the only residential hall of the degree wing of the college’s Dharampur campus, saying that he would give the mobile phone. After about two hours of torture there, the police rescued him.

In this regard, Kotwali Model Police Station OC Feroz Hossain said that the police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. Later he was admitted to Comilla General Hospital under supervision. I have received a written complaint in this regard. Legal action will be taken.

College Principal Dr. Abu Jafar Khan said, I have learned about the matter in Dhaka. Instructions are given to the Provost of the Hall.
