Dharla and Teesta rivers of Lalmonirhat rising from upstream and hill slopes cause flooding in the lower areas.  In the flood, people’s homes and crops have already been submerged under water.  However, even if the water is reduced, the river banks, dams, crop lands are being destroyed, and the habitations, the last possessions of the people, are being damaged.  Thousands of people living on the banks of the river and in the lower areas are spending their days in fear.
Thousands of people are stuck in water in several areas around Teesta river including Mogalhat of Dharla river of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila, Khuniagach of Teesta river, Rajpur union of Kulaghat union.  In such a difficult time, the member of parliament of Lalmonirhat Sadar-3 constituency stands beside the water-bound people.  Matiar Rahman.
For the past few days, he has been walking in the flood-affected areas sometimes on foot, sometimes going to the wet ground in the rain by boat, and seeing the sufferings of the flood-affected people from close quarters, he has continued to identify the problems and solve them immediately.  Distributing dry food in flood affected areas.
In this regard, Lalmonirhat Sadar-3 Member of Parliament Adv.  Matiar Rahman said, our main goal is to protect the settlements and crop lands of the people of the Teesta river area by preventing the Teesta river from collapsing.  I am working on the Teesta Master Plan and I am seeking prayers from the people to save these Banvasi people by implementing this master plan.
