Current and former students of Mierhat Adarsh ​​Lower Secondary School in Mithapukur Upazila of Rangpur have formed a human chain against the acting headmaster and an assistant teacher and the conscious civil society of the area.
On Monday (July 8), a human chain was held at Mierhat Bazar of Kafrikhal Union of the upazila at 10:00 am.
Sohanur Rahman, who was present at the human chain, said that we, the local residents and the former and present students of Mirhat Adarsh ​​Lower Secondary School, organized this human chain to protest against the arbitrariness, irregularity, corruption and embezzlement of Tk 22 lakh and the theft of the school tree by the arbitrariness, irregularity, corruption and recruitment trade of Mirhat Adarsh ​​Lower Secondary School acting headmaster Md. Badal Mia and assistant teacher Kamrul Islam. doing We want the acting headmaster to be immediately dismissed and the school’s ad-hoc committee to be abolished and an elected committee formed with parent members.
Meanwhile, last Friday, in the case of illegal sale of a tree in the institution’s field without tender, when local residents seized a van full of tree balls, the Mithapukur Thana Police handed over the tree balls to the Union Parishad. Upazila Secondary Education Officer has filed a written complaint but no action has been taken yet.
Zainal Abedin, the sacked headmaster of Meerhat Adarsh ​​Lower Secondary School and Chairman of Kafrikhal UP said, I have been suspended completely illegally since 2015. According to the order of the High Court, no teacher can be suspended for more than 180 days. But in violation of the order of the High Court, the Acting Headmaster has suspended me for nine consecutive years by forming an ad hoc committee with his own minded people outside the rules.
Badal Mia, the current acting headmaster of the school, could not be reached even after several attempts to contact him on the phone.
Mithapukur Upazila Secondary Education Officer Momin Mondal said, “I do not know about the human chain today. I have received a complaint about the sale of trees. Legal action will be taken after investigating the matter.”
Rangpur District Secondary Education Officer Enayet Hossain said on the phone, “I am in a meeting. If you complain to my office about the cutting of trees without tender, I will investigate the matter. I do not know about manabbandhan.”
