Agriculture promotion program in Nalchiti of Jhalkathi has been inaugurated for the distribution of free seeds and chemical fertilizers among the small and marginal farmers with the aim of increasing the production of Ufshi Aman paddy and coconut during the 2023-24 fiscal year Kharif-2/2024-25 season.
Seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed among 7,100 small and marginal farmers of the upazila in the upazila administration and upazila agriculture department at the upazila agriculture office premises on Monday (July 8) morning. 5 kg of Ufshi Aman rice for every 1 bigha (33 cents) of land. Seeds, 10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer will get assistance.
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. Salauddin Khan Salim, Upazila Agriculture Officer Sanjid Ara Shaon were present as chief guests under the chairmanship of Nazrul Islam.
Besides, with the aim of increasing coconut production in the financial year 2023-24, a total of 900 small and marginal farmers of the upazila, including 120 beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Asryan scheme, will get 5 coconut seedlings free of charge.
