The district police and the relatives of the deceased paid their respects to the martyrs who died in the horrifying terrorist attack in Sholakia of Kishoreganj.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Russel Sheikh, BPM-(Seba), PPM-(Bar) along with district police officials laid flowers at the temporary altar built at Charsholakia Sabuj Bagh junction, adjacent to Azimuddin High School yesterday (July 7) at 9:30 am. He paid deep respect to the memory of the martyrs.
At that time District Awami League President and District Parishad Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Zillur Rahman, General Secretary Bir Muktijoddha Advocate MA Afzal, Kishoreganj Municipal Mayor Parvez Mia, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Md. Mostak Sarkar, Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Mohammad Noore Alam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Al Amin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kishoreganj Model Police Station Mohammad Golam Mostafa and other police officials and district Awami League leaders were present.
It is to be noted that on July 7, 2016, militants attacked the Eid-ul-Fitr congregation and Imam Mufti Maulana Farid Uddin Masood at the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan with chapatis, bombs and pistols. Militants hacked to death two constables named Ansarul Haque and Zahirul Islam.
On hearing the news, other policemen came forward and resisted them. Militant Abir Rahman (23), son of Comilla, a student of North South University, was shot and died on the spot. Also, a housewife named Jharna Rani Bhowmik (40) was shot in the head at her home. At this time, 12 more policemen were injured.
