The body of an unidentified person wrapped in a mattress inside a trunk in South Keraniganj, Dhaka; RAB-10 has arrested Md Al Amin (25), one of the prime accused in the sensational and clueless murder case.

Since its inception, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been playing a leading role in bringing all types of criminals under the law to maintain the overall law and order situation of the country. RAB has been carrying out regular operations to arrest militants, terrorists, organized criminals, robbers, drug dealers and fugitives convicted in various cases including murder, kidnapping and rape. RAB has already been able to gain people’s trust in crime control with the continuation of intelligence surveillance and raiding activities.

Last 23/06/24 AD. At around 08.00 am local people called National Emergency Service 999 and informed the police station when they saw a big trunk under the bridge near Jazira Boat in Konda Union of Dakshin Keraniganj police station of Dhaka district. Later, the police arrived there and opened the trunk to find the dead body of an unidentified person wrapped in a mattress. It is believed that on 22/06/24, sometime between 8.00 pm and 12.00 pm, unknown miscreants killed the person, wrapped him in a mattress and dumped him in a trunk at the stated location. Along with RAB-10, Dakshin Keraniganj police station arrived and prepared a report and sent the body to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital, Dhaka for post-mortem.

RAB-10, Battalion Ops Officer ASP M. while legal measures and identification of the said person are in process at Dakshin Keraniganj Police Station. J. A raiding party led by Sohail visited the spot and started working to identify the suspected accused and the cause of the murder. The raiding party was able to identify some of the suspects with the help of CCTV footage review and information technology and continued the operation to interrogate the suspects.

In the meantime, the police were able to identify the body through finger prints and confirmed that the body was that of Dipankar Howlader @ Dipu Howlader @ Md Sumon (34) son of deceased Devendra Howlader under Baufal police station of Patuakhali district. Later, the victim’s mother, Minti Howladar, appeared at the police station and filed a murder case against the unknown accused as the plaintiff.

RAB-10 started investigating the incident and found out that Dipankar Howlader @ Dipu Howlader @ Md Sumon (34), converted to Islam approximately five years ago and married Subarna @ Parveen with the name Md Sumon as per Islamic Shariah. After marriage the plaintiff’s son and his wife started living separately and severed relations with the plaintiff’s family. The plaintiff came to know through his son’s wife that the victim was acquainted with two persons named Arif and Babu and used to visit their house. On 18/06/2024, Dipankar Howlader @ Dipu Howlader @ Md Suman left for Dhaka with his two friends Arif and Babu. Then on 19/06/2024, the victim called his wife’s number and informed about reaching Dhaka. Later, victim Suman’s wife tried to contact her husband but could not make any contact.

6) In view of this, through the collection and analysis of various data, a raid team of RAB-10 conducted an operation on 04/06/2024 at 10:30 hrs in Palpar Battala area under Mohammadpur police station of capital Dhaka and arrested the suspect Md Al Amin (25). able to arrest.

It is known from Al-Amin who was arrested during the initial interrogation that the victim Dipankar Howlader @ Dipu Howlader @ Md Sumon (34), Arif, Babu and Al-Amin are all truck drivers by profession. All of them are involved in drug trade under the guise of said profession. For about 7-8 years, they collected yaba and other narcotics through illegal smuggling from different border areas of the country. Later, he used to carry the said drug and deliver it to different areas of the country including Patuakhali, Keraniganj of Dhaka. Al-Amin, Arif and Babu clash with Suman over the drug-selling syndicate and sharing of money. As a result of the dispute, Al-Amin, Arif and Babu plan to kill Suman. As per the plan, Al-Amin, Arif and Babu brought Sumon from Patuakhali to Dhaka. After that, they took the arrested Al-Amin to his rented house in Keraniganj, Dhaka and strangled the victim Sumon to death at approximately 09:00 to 11:00 at night. After the murder, the victim Sumon’s body was wrapped in a mattress and taken to a truck in a trunk to hide it and left it on the side of a road near Jajira Boatghat Bridge under Dakshin Keraniganj police station at approximately 21:00 hours and after the said incident all the accused went into hiding.

The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned police station.
