Expelled president of Krishak League sentenced to life imprisonment in drug case in Rajbari

In a drug case in Rajbari, the expelled president of Goland Upazila Farmers’ League Md. Habibur Rahman (40) has been sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10,000. Habibur Rahman is the son of Jonab Ali of Kumrakandi village of Goland upazila.

Additional Sessions Judge Jannatun Lilifa Akhtar Jahan of Rajbari Additional Sessions Judge Court-1 on Wednesday afternoon gave this judgment in Section 3(b) of Table 19(1) of the Narcotics Control Act of 1990. The accused Habibur Rahman was present in the court during the pronouncement of the verdict, after which he was sent to jail.

According to the case, on May 1, 2013, at 11:15 a.m., members of RAB-8, 2nd Company Faridpur recovered 50 bottles of Fensidil from an earthen jar under the bed in the living room of Md. Habibur Rahman of Kumrakandi village of Gwalandghat police station. In this incident, RAB filed a case at Goland Ghat police station as a plaintiff. Goaland Ghat police station case no-02.

Additional PP of Rajbari Md. Abu Bakar Mia said that Habibur Rahman was sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10,000 in Fensidil case, in default of payment he was sentenced to another 6 months of unpaid imprisonment.
