China’s Communist Party has expelled former defense minister Li Shangfu and his predecessor Wei Fenghe over disciplinary charges. They were expelled as part of an anti-corruption drive. China’s state news agency Xinhua reported this information in a report on Thursday (June 27).
Citing the Communist Party, Xinhua reported that there was substantial evidence of bribery against Li Shangfu. He also did not hold political office. Rather, he has seen his own advantages while being in charge.
The Communist Party noted that Li Shangfu had betrayed his original mission as a leading figure in the military. He has also caused huge damage to national defence.
Shangfu’s predecessor, Wei Fengh, on the other hand, has been accused of disrupting political and organizational order, obstructing investigations, accepting bribes, and losing trust and loyalty.
