Barura in first meeting of 6th Upazila Parishad and chairman vice chairmen took charge

The first meeting of the 6th Upazila Parishad was held in Barura of Comilla and the assumption of duties of the Chairman and Vice Chairman was held.
On Wednesday, June 19 at 11:00 in the Upazila Parishad meeting room, under the chairmanship of Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. Hamid Latif Bhuiyan (Kamal), Comilla D District Awami League Vice President and SQ Foundation Chairman Abu Zafar Mohammad Shafiuddin Shamim MP was the chief guest.
Under the supervision of Barura Upazila Executive Officer Nu-Emong Marma Mong, former Additional Secretary Md. Sabbir Rahman, former supervising engineer of LGED Md. Abdul Quader and former executive director of Bangladesh Bank Md. Humayun Kabir were present as guests.
Barura Municipality Mayor Md. Baktar Hossain Bakhtiar, newly elected Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Md. Farhad Hossain, Female Vice Chairman Minuara Begum, Barura Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Mohibus Salam Khan, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Nasrin Sultana Tanu, Agriculture Upazila were present. Officer Md. Zahid Hasan, Barura Police Station Officer-in-charge Md. Riazul Islam Chowdhury, Former Mayor of Barura Municipality Bahaduruzzaman Bahadur, Barura Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Shahin Hossain, DGM of Barura Rural Electricity Zonal Office Md. Jalal Uddin, Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Borhan Uddin Bhuiya, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ratan Kumar Saha, Upazila Education Officer Md. Tariqul Islam, Chairman of Aganagar Union Parishad Md. Mazharul Islam Mithu, Chairman of Adda Union Parishad Zakir Hossain Badal, Chairman of Adra Union Parishad Rakibul Hasan Limon, Chairman of Bhavanipur Union Parishad Khalilur Rahman, and other chairmen. Officials of various departments, journalists and civil society leaders were present.
At the beginning of the meeting, the newly elected upazila chairman was greeted with flowers by the upazila administration.
In the meeting, Member of Parliament Abu Jafar Mohammad Shafiuddin Shamim put forward some proposals to make Barura upazila a smart and modern Barura which are as follows.
From Barura upazila headquarters to the union level, proper care should be taken on both sides in the construction, renovation and repair of every road such as keeping sufficient space for small or large vehicles to overtake and drive. each
Adhering to road rules and taking appropriate action against law breakers. To strengthen the supervision of the chairmen of the Union Parishad in the development work of their respective areas.
In addition to taking necessary measures to prevent juvenile gangs, the administration and the police have to play the role of civil society leaders, the upazila administration should work to resolve the traffic congestion in Barura town center through the joint initiative of the municipal mayor and the police administration. Increase police patrols and form local teams to prevent theft and robbery.
Roaming or staying on the road after 10 pm will require action. Necessary measures should be taken together with the administration, Barura police station, public representatives to prevent drugs.
In order to ensure the health services of the public, the community clinic built by the honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should be kept operational and the supervision of the health complex should be increased and necessary measures should be taken.
Digging canals in various areas including Barura Municipal Headquarters and taking measures to rescue them from encroachers.
Every 6 months the report of the development activities should be presented to the public. And
Ensuring accountability for every development work.
At the end, the newly elected upazila parishad chairman Md. Hamid Latif Bhuiyan Kamal Bangabandhu held the ideals and requested the cooperation of people from all walks of life to build Barura upazila as a smart upazila in building the vision of Smart Bangladesh of Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. And gave an ultimatum to the officer in charge of Barura police station to eradicate drugs within the next 6 months. He also said that as the newly elected chairman, many things may be out of my knowledge, so he wishes everyone’s cooperation and prayers for the development of Barura.
