Mohammad Masood Majumdar:
On Thursday, December 28, Barura Upazila’s Bhavanipur union, Kandari A. joined the election campaign and yard meeting. Z. M. Shafiuddin Shamim. In the morning, after participating in the funeral prayers of Abu Taher Bhuiya, a member of Comilla South District Awami League and former president of Bhavanipur Union Awami League, he started the day’s program with a meeting in the courtyard of Darganama Primary School. After that, he successively held courtyard meetings at A. Lakshipur Government Primary School, Bataichhari High School, Narindra Government Primary School and Egargram High School. He went from house to house between courtyard meetings and encouraged the voters to vote and urged them to come to the polling station on January 7 and exercise their civil rights. He walks for miles around the village, on the paths, in the fields, in the neighborhood tea shops, and asks for people’s prayers and votes for him in the symbol of a boat. At that time, Bangabandhu’s deputy and chief whip Noore Alam Chowdhury (Litton) and Nixon Chowdhury’s brother Feroz Chowdhury alias Likhan Chowdhury participated in his election campaign. Besides, the leaders and activists of Bhavanipur Union and the top leaders of the upazila level of the party participated with him in the mass communication.
In his speech at the courtyard meeting, he said that Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of the father of the nation, has nominated me to continue development and democracy. I am a person who loves progress and technology. I will work to make this initiative successful by transforming Bangladesh into a digital Bangladesh by prioritizing the technology sector and building a smart Bangladesh by 2041. There is no alternative to building technology-based businesses and industries to transform our population into manpower. In the last 15 years, the country’s infrastructure and socio-economic context have changed through overall development. The benefits of which are being enjoyed by all the people of the country irrespective of the party. To continue the development of the country, he called upon the people to vote for the boat symbol and make Awami League victorious again.
It is noted that Shafiuddin Shamim was serving as the vice-president of Comilla District South Awami League and was nominated by the party as a candidate for Comilla 8 in the 12th parliamentary election. He is a successful entrepreneur and social worker. Under the scope of humanitarianism and social responsibility, he has established humanitarian institutions like SQ Foundation, through which he has been working for many years to improve people’s quality of life including education, health, housing, employment, poverty alleviation.
In the absence of a strong rival, the victory is assured, while the candidates of the major parties are inactive in campaigning in many constituencies, the only exception being Comilla 8, the boat candidate Shafiuddin Shamim in Barura. Who turns the vote into a festival and walks miles and miles of village paths every day to voter’s house to house. The political and democratic festivity that voting can be is evident in these parliamentary constituencies. Leaders and workers are going from house to house of people in every area, in market, in tea shop, various speculations. This is a lively barura with baul and pala songs to attract people to the market.
