Martyr Intellectual Day celebrated in Rajbari

Martyr Intellectual Day was celebrated in Rajbari with due dignity. Rajbari district administration has taken various programs on the occasion of the day.

On this occasion, Rajbari District Commissioner Abu Qaiser Khan first paid tribute to the intellectuals by laying flowers at the monument of the Rajbari Lokshed Slaughterhouse at 10 am on Thursday.

At this time Deputy Director of Local Government Asaduzzaman Ripon, Additional District Magistrate Mocha. Morsheda Khatun, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Surbana Rani Saha and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Jayanthi Rupa Roy, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT). Sohan Hossain, Rajbari Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shobhan Rangsa and officials of the Deputy Commissioner’s office were present.

Then, on the occasion of the day, Deputy Commissioner Abu Qaiser Khan laid wreaths at the memorial of the massacre site along with the brave freedom fighters.

Later Rajbari Police Superintendent G. M. Abul Kalam laid a wreath .

At this time Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance and Administration) Md. Rezaul Karim, Additional Superintendent of Police Mukit Sarkar (Crime), Iftekharuzzaman (Sadar Circle), Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Pansha Circle) Suman Kumar Sahas were present.
Under the leadership of Rajbari Police Women’s Welfare Association (PUNAK) President Halima Akhtar Shireen, the women policemen laid wreaths at the memorial. On the occasion of the day, officials of various public and private institutions laid wreaths at the memorial of the slaughterhouse.
After placing wreaths at the memorial of the slaughterhouse, prayers were offered for the souls of the martyred intellectuals.

Earlier at 9 o’clock in the morning at Rajbari district Awami League office, the district Awami League and its affiliated organizations organized the intellectual day with the party leaders and workers to hoist the national and party flags and later paid floral tributes to Bangabandhu’s portrait on behalf of the district Awami League president and Rajbari-2 Constituency Member of Parliament. Hero freedom fighter Md. Jillul Hakim and general secretary Kazi Iradat Ali.
