A legal notice has been sent to the Chief Election Commissioner and the concerned parties demanding the postponement of the 12th National Parliament Election-2024. According to Article 123 of the Constitution, there is an opportunity to postpone the election, it has been mentioned in the notice.

On Tuesday (November 28), Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Md. Yunus Ali Akand sent this legal notice.

The Election Commission (EC) announced the schedule for the 12th National Assembly election 52 days before the polling. According to the schedule announced on November 15, the polls will be held on January 7.

The lawyer said, if no action is taken in this regard within 24 hours of receiving the legal notice, legal action (Writ in High Court) will be taken.

He said, the notice has asked to postpone the announced schedule. Besides, major political parties of the country are absent in the elections. If they want to come for election then we should postpone the date of election. Besides, there is pressure from foreigners to postpone the elections.
