Allegations of attack on the principal assistant Mazharul Islam were made against the college branch Chhatra League for preventing the beating of two students on the suspicion of camp. The incident took place in front of the Zia Auditorium of the degree wing on Monday (November 20) afternoon. In protest, the college employees’ union announced a strike on November 21. On the other hand, the police rescued the two students who were beaten up and took them into custody.\
It is learned that three teachers of the department and the assistant principal of the college were heading towards the auditorium to decide the venue for a program of the zoology society of the college next Thursday (November 23). At that time, the BCL workers led by the expelled leaders of the College BCL, Zobair and Abdur Rahman Babu, witnessed the beating of two students, including one named Khorshed Alam, on suspicion of camp. The chief assistant asked to stop the beating. Angry at this, Babu of Chhatra League punched him and injured him. Besides, the two students were detained and tortured for about five hours. The police rescued them from the spot after getting the news.
Chief Assistant Mazharul Islam said that the BCL leaders and activists attacked him without any reason. Basically, he requested them not to beat the two students for fear of a major accident. Kazi Sayem, Convenor of College Chhatra League said, action will be taken against the culprits after knowing the details.
Comilla Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ahmed Sanjur Morshed said at 8:30 in the night, two students rescued from the scene are in police custody. Necessary measures will be taken after knowing the details.
College Principal Professor Dr. Abu Zafar Khan said, after hearing the incident, the police was informed. The matter of beating the principal assistant and two students is being investigated.
