SM Babul Hossain, president of Dhaka-based Gopalganj Journalists’ Association and senior reporter of Dainik Bhorer Darpan, are being made against the journalist’s brother-in-law and the resident of the next door, Sirajul Alam Chiru. On 6 October 2023 (Friday) at 10 am, the matter of the case was known from the notice given by the process server of Gopalganj District Executive Magistrate Court, Abdul Aziz. The notice mentioned to appear in the Bagerhat Executive Magistrate Court on 14th September 2023 at 10 am but the notice reached the journalist’s home on 6th October 2023. The next date mentioned in the same notice is 16 November 2023. It is said that none of those who have been shown as witnesses in this false case are from Bagerhat. But in the case the house of witness No. 1 and 2 is shown in Bagerhat district. In fact, all their homes are in Tungipara of Gopalganj. Apart from this, in the details of the case, where the scene of the incident is shown, it is known that there was no quarrel or argument between the plaintiff and the defendant at that place or in that area. Locals have said that the claim made by the plaintiff against the defendants in the case of the plan to take possession of the land by force is completely false and fabricated. It is known from local sources that on 9 July 2023, when the construction work of the toilet with a tin fence was closed on the south side of the journalist’s residence, the journalist filed a GD with the police station to stop the work (GD No. 444 dated 12/07/2023). The officer-in-charge of the police station SM Kamruzzaman took charge of the GD and sent ASI Noor Hossain to the spot for preliminary investigation and ordered the work to stop. The police came to the spot after getting the truth of the GD and ordered the work to stop and ordered Sirajul Alam Chiruk to appear at the police station with the land documents, but he did not go to the police station. Even when the police station called him several times, he did not respond. Apart from this, he was called three times in Gramya Shalish but he did not appear in that Shalish. The Thana and Gramya Shalish were disobeyed and filed a case through the Thana Court. Case No. 8/23 dated 10/08/2023. It is said that Sirajul Alam Chiru filed a false case against the journalist and his two brothers in Bagerhat Court after the case was filed in Gopalganj Court.
