Miscreants detonated cocktails in front of Chiknikandi Union Awami League office under Galachipa upazila of Patuakhali district. The incident took place at Chiknikandi Bazar, Ward No. 1 of Chiknikandi Union on Tuesday (October 31) night around 11:30. It is known that at the time of the incident, a religious ceremony was going on in the temple adjacent to Chiknikandi Bazar. Several miscreants suddenly entered the market and detonated two cocktails. Residents of the area were frightened by the loud noise and ran here and there. The terrorists left the cocktail and petrol bombs with them and fled after hearing the shouts and rush of the night watchman of the market. Meanwhile, after receiving the information, the police recovered 4 unexploded cocktails and 4 unexploded petrol bombs from the spot. In this incident, a case has been registered in Galachipa police station, mentioning 25/30 unknown persons including persons identified under the Explosives Act. Assistant Superintendent of Police (Galachipa Circle) and Officer-in-Charge of Galachipa Police Station visited the incident site. Officer-in-charge of Galachipa police station, Shonit Kumar Gayen, said that after receiving information, the police reached the spot and recovered four cocktails wrapped in red tape and four petrol bomb-like objects from the side of the paved road in front of Chiknikandi Union Awami League office. A case has been registered in this regard, efforts are on to arrest the accused.
