10 years imprisonment in drug case in Jhalkathi

The court sentenced a young man to 10 years imprisonment in a drug case in Jhalkathi. Jhalkathi District and Sessions Judge Md. Waliullah announced the sentence on Tuesday. The court ordered the accused Md. Monirul Islam to be sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and 20 thousand taka fine in default of 3 months imprisonment for the crime of possession of drug Fensidil. According to the statement, on July 10, 2022, Barisal RAB 8 recovered 49 bottles of Fensidil from the possession of Md. Monirul Islam, son of Md. Roshan Alam of Ward No. 09 of Taltala under Satkhira police station and in front of Chatrakanda Eidgah Jame Masjid Maidan under Jhalkathi Sadar police station, adjacent to Pirojpur Barisal highway.

Later, RAB SI Ujjal Kumar filed a case at Jhalkathi police station and handed over the accused Monirul Islam to the police station. After the investigation of the case, SI Swaib Hasan of Jhalkathi Police Station submitted the charge sheet to the court on 8th September 2022. The court announced the verdict today before taking the testimony of the witnesses. The verdict was announced in the absence of the accused Md. Monirul Islam, who has been absconding since bail. The case was handled on behalf of the government by PP Ed. Abdul Mannan Rasul of Jhalkathi District and Dera Judge Court.
