Research-based social organization New Bangladesh organized a discussion meeting and dinner party on Friday, September 13 at Pushpadam Chinese Restaurant at Dhaka’s National Sports Complex on the theme of “Moving Politics – Our Actions” and presented 8-point recommendations for state reform. Under the chairmanship of Bappi Sardar, the main patron of the new Bangladesh, the prominent businessman Mohsin Sikder Pavel, the coordinator of the new Bangladesh, was present as an invited guest. Eng. Md. Rafiqul Islam, freedom fighter ATM Golam Mawla Chowdhury, Chairman of Bangladesh independent candidate Oikya Parishad Alhaj Md. Abdur Rahim, former presidium member of the alternative party Enayet Kabir, diplomatic figure and prominent businessman Shibli Sadiq, former tax commissioner Md. Asaduzzaman, Chairman of Expectation Bangladesh Abdullah Al Mamun, Bangladesh Congress joint secretary general Abdullah Al Mamun, political thinker Md Habibur Rahman, president of the youth movement of the Farmers Labor Janata League Habibur Nabi Sohail, human rights personality educationist vice-principal Nuruzzaman Hira, TKAB convener Murshidul Haque and more than a hundred organizers. Discussing ongoing politics, the negotiators demanded the appointment of several young Sunagris in the advisory council besides supporting the current government.
8 points proposed by New Bangladesh:
1) Abolish the parliamentary electoral system to stop corruption at all levels and introduce a system of “representative government” consisting of people’s representatives and citizens to ensure balance between government and political parties.
2) Formation of permanent Supreme Judicial Council and formation of “Judicial Selection Panel” comprising former judges and senior lawyers in the process of appointment of judges and introduction of High Court Division at departmental level.
3) To ensure the empowerment of the Election Commission, to permanently elect the Election Commissioner from among cadres and non-cadres and to ensure the allotment of political party symbols only when the central office and central committee are formed in the case of Party Registration Act. Permanent cancellation of signature of 1 percent voters in case of election of independent candidate.
4) In addition to work-oriented education system to eliminate unemployment, technical education system after SSC curriculum should be made mandatory to ensure government jobs within the age of 26, strengthen district-based industry establishment to ensure private employment and facilitate region-based investment to prevent money laundering abroad.
5) To create public awareness about the negative effects of climate change, to highlight the dangers of environmental disasters in textbooks at all levels, to implement specific village-based programs to implement the Clean Village-Green Village program, to make religious education compulsory at the child class and primary school levels and to improve the quality of life of women, “National Women’s Development Commission” ” to form.
6) Establishment of district-based technical institutes to send skilled workers abroad on priority basis, establishment of “National Labor Helping Council” to create new labor market, formation of welfare fund for expatriates, arrangements to bring dead bodies of expatriate workers to the country free of charge.
7) Formation of “National Recruitment Commission” to bring transparency in merit-based recruitment at all levels and introduction of punishment as well as dismissal if investigation officer’s investigation is found to be wrong in any matter and strengthening of National Press Council to ensure independent media.
8) Ensuring the balance of power between the President and the Prime Minister and introducing the provision that any citizen of the state can file a case against the representative in any court of the state during the tenure of the elected representative.
