The 74th birth anniversary of martyred freedom fighter Captain Sheikh Kamal was celebrated in Chapainawabganj.
A commemorative discussion meeting and award distribution ceremony was held on the occasion of the 74th birth anniversary celebration of martyred freedom fighter Captain Sheikh Kamal, one of the pioneers of modern sports in Bangladesh, organized by the district administration on Saturday (August 05) in the administrator’s conference room.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ahmed Mahbub-ul-Islam presided over the event. Chapainawabganj District Commissioner and learned District Magistrate AKM Galiv Khan spoke as the chief guest. Superintendent of Police Chaidul Hasan (PPM Service) was present as a special guest. Deputy Director of Local Government Devendra Nath Uran, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Anichur Rahman, Principal of Nawabganj Government College Shankar Kumar Kundu, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Afaz Uddin, LGED Executive Engineer Mozahar Ali Prang, Civil Surgeon Dr. SM Mahmudur Rashid, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Rawshan Ali etc. Besides, district administration officials, officials of various public and private departments, representatives of civil society, students of various schools and colleges and journalists of print and electronic media were present in the event.
Earlier in the morning at 09:30 in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the officials of various public and private departments, including the district administration, placed wreaths on the portrait of the brave freedom fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal installed on Bangabandhu Manch.
